POSTPONED: Poetry Evening: Between Heart and Algorithm
postponed to: Tuesday, November 3, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, at Herbergsgasse 7 in Basel. In a relaxed setting, we will read, recite, and discuss selected poems on the topic. We look forward to all interested students and young adults. We pose the question of what distinguishes humans from machines – in a time when this difference seems to be growing smaller. Digitalization and artificial intelligence seem increasingly capable of performing creative work. Where does the algorithm end and where does the human heart begin? We want to deepen these thoughts through the art of poetry. For poetry goes far beyond everyday language, alienating it and making moods and emotions tangible through meaningful form and richness of imagery. Special literary knowledge is not required (but of course welcome), as we will not be conducting a theoretical analysis, but rather wish to have and enjoy practical experiences. Led by: Oliver Füglister (religious educator and poet) and Andreas Schalbetter SJ (theologian and poet) Registration by 10 PM the previous evening at kug@unibas.ch facilitates our planning and implementation.
