Who we are and what we stand for

We Capuchins are a worldwide religious community living in the tradition of Saint Francis of Assisi. His example inspires us not only to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus, but to live it in everyday life – in simplicity, brotherhood, and deep trust in God.

Our mission is to strive for a more just world. We stand by the poor and needy, seek dialogue with other religions, and actively commit ourselves to peace and reconciliation. Mindful care for creation is as natural to us as the conviction that the Christian faith provides meaning and support – in every situation of life.

As Capuchins, we work for a church that is credible, fraternal, and viable for the future. On this path, respect, hospitality, mercy, and humility are particularly important to us. We meet people with open hearts – and firmly believe that a smile and a pinch of humor are also part of the Good News.
