The next date will be September 25 at 4:00 p.m.; all further dates can be found on the attached poster. Next monthly pilgrimage with Pastor Johannes Insel Sun 30 Aug 2026 We would like to cordially invite you to the next monthly pilgrimage on Friday, September 11, 2026: this time with Johannes Insel, pastor emeritus. As always, we will pray the Rosary together at 6:00 p.m. and celebrate Holy Mass afterwards. Following this, we invite you to a small agape in the parish hall. Invitation to the parish festival on September 12/13 Sat 22 Aug 2026 The St. Marien parish community cordially invites you to this year's parish festival on September 12 and 13. It begins with the vigil Mass at 6:30 p.m. (with our choir) on Saturday, September 12. This will be followed by an outdoor barbecue evening. On Sunday, September 13, the parish festival kicks off at 11:30 a.m. with the family Mass (with children's catechesis and our band). Afterwards, a variety of attractions await you, such as children's games, a bouncy castle, a book flea market, beer, wine and grill stands, currywurst, french fries, a cocktail bar, delicacies from the Klosterhof restaurant and much more. Two major events: renewal of vows and silver jubilee Tue 18 Aug 2026 On August 14, we had the great joy that Brother Korbinian renewed his profession (his vows) (photos of this event can be found below); on August 15, Fr. Rupert and Fr. Elias celebrated their silver jubilee and renewed their religious vows during Holy Mass; this was followed by an agape in the parish hall. Both jubilarians express their heartfelt thanks for all the congratulations and gifts. Dr. theol. Franz Karl Praßl will give a lecture on the topic: "The Chant of the Cistercians: A Choral Reform in the 12th Century". The announcement states: "The repertoire of Gregorian chant – the monophonic liturgical chant of the Latin churches – underwent an extensive internal order revision by the Cistercians in the late Middle Ages. The reform was initiated in 1109 by the third abbot of Cîteaux, Stephen Harding: the (predominantly biblical) texts of the chants were to be in the foreground and not dominated by highly developed melodies. In 1134, Bernard of Clairvaux commissioned a second choral reform, which was completed in 1185 with a code of norms. The intentions underlying the reforms (e.g., purity and originality according to the Rule of Benedict, uniformity, simplicity) overall refer to the ideals of the Cistercian movement, which religiously, culturally and economically shaped the European continent in the 12th century. In musical matters, the reform often followed contemporary music theory and aesthetics." Following the lecture, we always invite you to a small reception.
