Bicycle Pilgrimage
Bicycle Pilgrimage: Setting Out – Being on the Way – Retreating – Returning Home Date: Saturday, October 17 Start: 10:00 AM in front of the parish church Maria Ramersdorf, Ramersdorfer Str. 6, München Destination: Holzkirchen (optional return trip by bike to München) Motto: Not a sporty "mileage grind," but a true pilgrimage day in the foothills of the Alps – with time for community, nature, and spiritual impulses. What to expect Together we set off on two wheels. Via low-traffic side roads, forest and field paths, we connect beautiful church landscapes between München and the Oberland. At selected stations, we pause for short impulses, silence, and prayer. Good old pilgrimage rule: First prayer and devotion, then we hop on the bike! The route & our stations 1. Setting Out: Maria Ramersdorf We start at one of München's oldest Marian pilgrimage sites, whose roots go back to the Middle Ages. Before the pedals turn, we pause in the pilgrimage church, light a candle, and place our day under a traveler's blessing. 2. Being on the Way: From Perlach to the foothills of the Alps We ride south via Perlach. Stop 1: St. Leonhard pilgrimage church in Höhenkirchen. Stop 2: St. Andreas in Aying. Stop 3: St. Emmeram in Kleinhelfendorf – a place rich in history that already gives our journey a true pilgrimage character. 3. The Highlight: Weyarn Monastery The most beautiful section of the route leads us via low-traffic paths through the hilly foothills landscape to Weyarn. The former Augustinian Canons' monastery, founded in 1133, with its magnificent Baroque church St. Peter and Paul, forms the spiritual highlight of our tour. Here we take an extensive break for reflection and lunch. 4. Arriving: Holzkirchen & St. Laurentius After a short stage, we reach Holzkirchen. At the St. Laurentius church, we conclude the official part of the tour together. The return trip – The choice is yours
